SINNEMAHONING: Sinnemahoning State Park is offering a full slate of winter programs throughout February, giving visitors opportunities to explore the outdoors, learn about local wildlife, and try new seasonal activities at the park’s Wildlife Center.
The programs are open to the public and designed for a range of ages and experience levels, with several events geared toward beginners.
On Saturday, February 14th, the park will host Snowshoeing for Beginners from 12:PM to 2:PM at the Wildlife Center. Participants will begin indoors with an introduction to snowshoe equipment and techniques before heading outside for guided practice on level ground and a short trail excursion. If snow conditions are insufficient, the indoor portion will still be held, followed by a roughly two-mile nature hike. Registration is required.

The following morning, Sunday, February 15th, visitors are invited to Coffee with the Birds from 9:AM to 10:AM at the Wildlife Center fireplace. Participants can enjoy coffee, tea, or cocoa indoors while learning how to identify birds visiting feeders just outside the windows. Guests may stop in at any point during the program.
On Monday, February 16th, the park will feature Mighty Mustelids Table from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Wildlife Center. This informal educational program highlights members of the weasel family, with specimens on display and information about their behaviors, habitats, and role in the ecosystem.
Later in the month, Saturday, February 21st, the park will offer Cross-Country Skiing for Beginners from 12:PM to 2:PM Like the snowshoeing program, this session begins indoors with an overview of equipment and techniques, followed by guided outdoor instruction. If snow conditions do not allow skiing, the program will shift to a two-mile nature walk. Registration is required.
Advance notice is requested for participants who need accommodations, including interpreter services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Registration for applicable programs is available online through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources event system. Additional information can be obtained by contacting Sinnemahoning State Park directly.
