RIDGWAY: A Weedville man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl were discovered during his intake process at the Elk County Jail.
Bradley Alan Vanvoorhis, 32, has been charged by Ridgway Borough Police with two felony counts related to contraband involving controlled substances and possession of a controlled substance by an inmate prohibited, both felonies of the second degree. He also faces a felony charge of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance.
Additional charges include one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, one misdemeanor count of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, according to a criminal complaint filed February 18th in the office of Magisterial District Judge James Martin.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Ridgway Borough Police were notified February 2, 2026, of Vanvoorhis’ arrest by Emporium Borough Police on allegations involving drugs and paraphernalia. The affidavit states Vanvoorhis is known to police as a suspected supplier of methamphetamine in the Ridgway area.
While being transported to the Elk County Jail, officers reported that Vanvoorhis became unresponsive in the rear of a patrol vehicle. Police conducted a sternum rub, after which he regained consciousness. Officers allegedly observed multiple stamp bags labeled “STEAK 48” on his lap, along with a white powdery substance on his pants.
He was searched and transported to Penn Highlands Elk by the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department for evaluation.
Authorities state that when Vanvoorhis was later returned to the Elk County Jail, a strip search was conducted as part of intake procedures. During the removal of his belt, a small plastic bag reportedly containing a crystal-like substance fell to the floor. Police allege Vanvoorhis denied knowledge of the item.
On Feb. 3, 2026, Ridgway Borough Police received two sealed envelopes containing suspected narcotics. One envelope reportedly contained a small clear plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine. The other contained 20 loose stamp bags and an additional bundle of 10 stamp bags believed to contain heroin and fentanyl, according to court documents.
The crystal-like substance weighed approximately 2.03 grams and field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The bundle of 10 stamp bags was secured for laboratory testing, while the 20 loose stamp bags were also placed into evidence.
Vanvoorhis remains confined in the Elk County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 18th before Judge Martin.
