COOK FOREST: A full day of winter tradition, outdoor adventure, and family-friendly competition is set to return as Snowman in the Forest 2026 brings visitors back to the heart of Cook Forest for one of the region’s signature seasonal celebrations.

The festivities begin at 11:30 AM with the always-anticipated Chili Cook-Off, featuring both hot and mild divisions. Local cooks and chili enthusiasts will compete for bragging rights as attendees sample and vote for their favorites. Whether you enjoy a subtle blend of spices or a five-alarm favorite, the cook-off promises to warm guests from the inside out.

From 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, families can enjoy a full slate of classic winter activities including horse-drawn carriage rides, sledding, snowman building, and ice skating. Ice skates will be available for those who want to glide across the rink and embrace the crisp forest air.

Nature enthusiasts can take part in a Snowshoe Interpretive Hike from 12:PM to 1:PM along Cook Trail, exploring the old growth forest that makes Cook Forest one of Pennsylvania’s most treasured natural landmarks. Participants will meet at the new River Pavilion before heading out on a guided trek designed to highlight the area’s unique ecosystem and towering ancient trees.

At 1:PM, the spotlight shifts to the four-legged attendees during the Happy Dog Contest. Dogs of all sizes and personalities are invited to compete, adding an extra layer of charm and community spirit to the winter gathering.

Snowman in the Forest 2026 celebrates everything that defines winter in the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors — scenic landscapes, family fun, local flavor, and outdoor recreation. Visitors are encouraged to bundle up, explore the forest trails, and spend the day enjoying one of the region’s most beloved seasonal traditions.
