PUNXSUTAWNEY: Madalyn Wachob has been recognized as the February 2026 Girl-of-the-Month by the Punxsutawney Career Women’s Club.

The daughter of Amanda and David Wachob of Punxsutawney, Madalyn is a senior at Punxsutawney Area High School, where she is enrolled in the Academic Curriculum.

Athletic Achievements

During her freshman and sophomore years, Madalyn competed as a member of the Lady Chucks softball team, earning several standout honors. Among her accolades were Varsity Rookie of the Year, Top Offensive Player, and recognition for recording the most RBIs.

In addition to softball, Madalyn was a dedicated member of the volleyball program throughout her high school career. Her efforts on the court were acknowledged with the Team Heart Award, along with distinctions for Most Set Assists and Most Digs.

Academic And Extracurricular Involvement

Madalyn has been actively involved in numerous student organizations during her time at PAHS, including Bible Club, Spanish Club, Yoga Club, Varsity Club, Future Educators Club, Yearbook, and Student Government. She also participated in the school’s PowderPuff and PowderBuff fundraising events.

Her academic achievements include induction into the National Honor Society during her junior year and consistent placement on the High Honor Roll.

Work Experience And Community Service

In her senior year, Madalyn joined the school’s Work Release Program and currently serves as a 2025–2026 AmeriCorps member at the elementary school, gaining hands-on experience in education. Over the past several summers, she worked at Madella’s Ice Cream. She has also launched her own photography venture, “Moments by Mady.”

Madalyn is a member of Steffy Chapel United Methodist Church and remains active within her community.

Looking Ahead

Following her graduation from PAHS in 2026, Madalyn plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She hopes to later earn a master’s degree in psychology.

In her free time, Madalyn enjoys watching movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

The Punxsutawney Career Women’s Club honors a local senior each month who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement.
