REYNOLDSVILLE: A Rockton woman facing misdemeanor and summary charges has waived her right to a preliminary hearing, sending her case to Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas for further proceedings.
Madison Mae Yaros, 24, appeared before Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana for a scheduled preliminary hearing. According to court records, Yaros is charged with two counts of harassment, classified as third-degree misdemeanors, along with a summary offense of disorderly conduct.
By waiving the preliminary hearing, Yaros did not contest the prosecution’s evidence at this early stage, allowing the charges to be bound over to county court for formal arraignment and additional court proceedings.
Judge Inzana set bail at $5,000.
A preliminary hearing is designed to determine whether sufficient evidence exists for a case to proceed. When a defendant waives this step, the matter advances without the presentation of testimony in district court.
The case will now continue through the Jefferson County judicial system, where future court dates will be scheduled.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
